Early Inspiration

My interest in photography began at an early age. We did not have a television throughout much of my childhood so I spent a good deal of time drawing and observing the natural world. I also had the good fortune to grow up in a bucolic setting in the Catskill/Hudson Valley region of New York. Early one spring my attention was continually drawn to the view from the edge of our yard. I intuitively understood the appeal of the tree branches framing the horse pasture and Shawangunk Ridge in the distance. This is when I decided I wanted to capture my observations on film.
